Here are my besties forever (minus one), all in our matching uni’s and first place medals! We worked hard and we won our main event at our very first regatta, beating the next closest boat by nearly 4 minutes on a 5km course. That was my weekend in a nutshell: complete awesomeness plus a lot of hours in a charter bus.

Despite the fact that my torso is longer than two seats in that darn bus, I still managed to curl up, legs sprawled all over the wall and my chin tucked down into my pillow, and get some much needed shut eye. Homework? That waited until today when I actually felt motivated… lie.

I was not motivated in the least bit to get anything done today. My weekend needed to be extended. Is it wrong to pray for some kind of natural disaster to hit campus and close down school for just one day? Well, eventually I buckled down and managed to finish some stuff, but my to-do list is still a mile long this week. We’re just going to play things by ear, hoping my time management skills make an appearance.

Funny Story

Since working on my english paper doesn’t exactly sound like something I’d like to do right now, I’m wasting time I don’t have surfing the net. That’s when I came upon this:

How many cannibals could your body feed?

You know, it’s a funny story how I came to click on this link. Way back in the summer of 2009 I was a cannibal. Not fo’ reals. Just your run of the mill, everyday, summer camp cannibal. It all started with a simple statement to my fellow counselors regarding a book I was reading about the 1970’s Ande’s plane crash survivors and then it turned into campers thanking me at the end of their weeks for me not eating them (see top left corner… and yes my camp name was Sweet D)

009

Since camp counselors lie to their kids, it was fun to tell them that the 6’3″ girl over there that lifts weights an ungodly number of times during the week likes to eat kids- but only if they’re causing trouble.

Anyways. I can feed 23 cannibals. How about you?

What a relief it is that it’s Friday! A big round of auplase is due my way, I just finished the first week of classes of my sophomore year.  This week is always stressful and I always can’t wait for my  life to become routine again. (Life seems to go much more smoothly when I know what’s going to happen) It looks like my schedule will be pretty busy, per usual, but fun and exciting!

Most of my classes are on MWF… I’m busy from 6am-6pm with a little break here and there. TuTh are almost completely free! I’ve only had 2 days to try it out and it has been so nice to be able to just sit down and finish my homework all in one sitting. Hmm, maybe that’s not so nice seeing as I usually have hours of homework to do…

I’m fine with homework just so long as I can have some fun now and then. Thursday night was definitely fun and just what I needed. The school hosted their anual club fair thingy and I got to sit at a table and represent FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes).  Afterwards I got to go to Cru participate in some awesome worship, which was just what I needed- to reconnect- after a tough week.

Other things that make me happy, the movie Up!. It is so, so, so adorable and hilarious. There is an army of talking dogs, a house that flies to South America with the aid of helium filled balloons, and a really sweet old man. I highly reccomend it!

THE Life

Today could have been described as one of those “this is the life” kind of days. I slept in until 10. I lounged around for most of the day (for a reason)… and I only had to leave the apartment once to get a bunch of free stuff:

007

See that bag… free. Kindly given to me by a leprechaun. My favorite items are the fitted tees and two pairs of tennies. Now mind you, this duffel bag could fit a small child into it and it was rather full when I got it. Don’t let the size of the shoes fool you- I have big feet.

Anyways. My morning was spent going through my bag-o-goodies and trying not to die. I’m dreadfully sick, you see. Here are just a few of the pills I’ve been popping like candy:

006

That right there would be more of a nighttime cocktail… because of the benadryl to help me sleep through the awful coughing that those yellow things are supposed to stop. I think the most pills I’ve taken at once would be 11 so far. Don’t worry, I’ve checked interactions. I’m good.  You see, at this point this bug is extremely irritating. We’re going on 19 days here, folks. It’s gotten to the point where I judge my bedtime by the next time I can take Sudafed. My nightstand looks like a pharmacy!

Despite my not feeling well I have still tried to remain interested in life… One of my roommates forwarded this to me. It’s super sweet!

Well, I’m pretty sure that I got an A+ on my Chemistry test. That’s one less thing to worry about, along with having practice out of the way. It was especially fun today! Does that mean easy? Nah… just super fun and different.

Wanna know what else is super fun? Listening to Christmas music whilst packing/cleaning for Thanksgiving break. I will be getting on the road at approx. 11:30 a.m. (in about 2 hours!!) The trip will be much nicer and faster since my friend M. is tagging along.

The rats will be going with the roomie, home, since I am traveling to the windy city to see family for a couple of days. My parents weren’t too keen on the idea of having a rat in the car for an 8 hour road trip. They think it might make things smelly. You know what my answer to that is? Dad. Gas. Eww. Besides, we’re cleaning the cage right now.

It’s my turn to hold the rats, I put them in my newly emptied trash can… hey, it works. They are so cute. They made a fort with the newspaper in their cage:

042

It’ll be tough to leave Bootsie for about a week, but I might be able to manage. You know what’s going to be difficult? Leaving my teammates. I’m going to miss them 😦 But it’s probably going to be worse over Christmas break: a whole month without my best buddies!

Well, gotta go finish up the packing. Gotta make my list and check it twice. Pick out something nice.

It’s official…

… I’m a loser. It’s Friday night and I’m blogging. Yep, you guessed it, I’m sitting in my dorm room because there’s nothing better to do. Honestly I have good reasons to want to go to bed early, like:

  • I’m exhausted
  • My roommate and suitemate are in Omaha for the weekend (for Navigators
  • I’m sore
  • I have things to do tomorrow

Now that Ya’ll know why I’m going to bed at 8:30 on a friday night in college (btw, I don’t party/drink, if that explains anything) I will continue with regularly scheduled programming

You know that you wanted to see what I eat. Well here it is. If you really want to try to figure out the calories, you just go ahead and do that, then let me know in the comments.

  • 1 c. raisin bran
  • 1.5 c. lucky charms
  • 1 c. skim milk
  • 1 c. canned peaches sans syrup
  • 5 medium, fresh strawberries

  • dinner/snacks:
  • 6  fun size chocolates

  • .5 c peas

And I totally lost a couple pounds this last week just by dropping down to one bowl of cereal and cutting down on the sweets. But with the above menu I was able to maintain my weight. Aren’t you jealous??

**I saw gym boy today!!! I was walking out of my Spanish class about 20 minutes late (talking to the prof. about the outline…) and he was “parked” outside of the building I was walking out of. It was a  nice day so he had the window rolled down in what is not his car (because I totally am a creepy stalker and know what he drives) There was eye contact. Wish there was a wave… but I think he might be in a frat and was with his frat… brothers… is that what you call them??**

Interesting Morning/Weekend

Nasty rain makes people do funny things, I’ve decided… like pull weeds at 7:30 in the morning, bad weather included. know, it sounds strange but I can’t really ellaborate other than saying it was fun. Yes, I just said that I had fun pulling weeds. But it is a little bit different than when your parents tell you to- so don’t expect anything fancy when I come back home, mom.

… because I went home this weekend. First trip home from college. Guess what I had for dinner my first night home: 2 lean pockets and a 2 serving blue bunny ice cream dish (which I guess was better than what I had last night when I got back: fruit/yogurt, small salad and chocolate cake). I probably shouldn’t complain about the food though since mom did my laundry, bought me clothes (holy smokes i found jeans at wal mart that were long enough and were somewhat proportionate to my huge thighs), bought me random items, cleaned my car (vacuum, rainX, windows), put new windshield wipers on my car, and filled my gas tank (gas was $2.99 !!!)

It was my first big drive by myself, and I didn’t die. The way home was easy-peasy. I hit rush hour traffic in Topeka, KS but I let people pass me and realize that there were cars going just as slow in front of me so it was all good. I payed the tolls just fine too. But the way back. Dang, son. Let’s just start off with saying one of the reasons I got new windshield wipers and rainX was because of the storm that was between me and the university. There were points at which I was going 50 in a 70 zone because visibility/ traffic was that bad. Add to that the semis that were following way too close and changing langes/making walls across the 3 lane interstate sporatically.

I should probably add that I went to my gym twice. Once on Friday, and again on Saturday morning. On friday they didn’t make me exchange my keys for a locker because they know me/ my keys were attatched to my wallet. There was a new guy there (probably to replace gym boy) and he was freaking out when Jason told me I didn’t have to turn my keys in. He was all like “who is she that she doesn’t have to turn her keys in?!” and I’m all like “I’m important around here. Didn’t you get the memo??” not really. But those thoughts were totally flying around the room. And one last thing (because this is getting long) at water aerobics I was the life of the party; ‘cuz I’m cool like that.

Now it’s time for my mid-morning nap.

10 years from now…

I don’t think I’ve mentioned before that I go to the Ag. school for the state. As in all the farmers come here. In fact we have a whole parking lot devoted to pick up trucks. Not really, it’s just the lot for off campus students that’s right next to the rodeo building.

Up until now I was fo’ sho’ going to live in a small town with a cute little house and have to drive 20 minutes to get anywhere interesting. I’ve changed my mind. I don’t want to have 4 children all (legally) named Bubba in 10 years while living in my farmhouse with the cows in the front yard and wearing a giant mumu (because Bubba #5 is on her way) and an apron.

So, to the farmer boy who was trying to make eyes at me (but was way to shy) in the dinner line- I’m not interested.

Anyways, back to the whole 10 years from now thing… There’s this board in our basement (I live in an all girls dorm btw) and I thought it was kinda funny how all of the Jonas Brothers are spoken for. I call dibs on the little one. just kidding.

Ok, I’ll show you what I wrote. You can stop asking now.

Rat update! They love each other. Ya gotta tilt your head 3 mm to the left and squint with one eye to see bootsie, but it’s worth the effort for these cuties:

Everyone, Say hello to Bootsie

This is Bootsie. She is my new baby. But she’s actually a rat.

Ok… let me back up a bit here. You’re probably wondering whats going on. This weekend I went home with my roomate. One of the things we decided on was to buy rats while we were in town (her town is actually a metropolis of 50k, but still larger than our little college town).

Anyways, on saturday we made our 1st trip to PetCo. Rats, cage, food, etc: check. Come home. My baby is sluggish and coughing up blood. Trip to PetCo #2: told to go to the vet (free of charge- but we soon find out they’re closed). 3rd visit to PetCo: get meds for the baby rat.

Then we go see the Producers at the community theater: it was super cute. A bit more sexual than I was expecting, but then again it’s a Gene Wilder thing.

Sunday we go to church, then PetCo and get a bigger cage (for the 2 of them, once mine is healthy) Did I mention we got 2?? Here is B’s: Dr. Nibbles (she bites. and the name sounds, um different, is you say it 5x fast)

And here’s us coming home:

Ok. So now they’re all moved in an everything. I look at my wall o’ stuff and see this. I guess i’m running a 5k next sunday? Probably should have started running again sooner than today. Probably should go work on that.

And I thought I’d add that my mom is just loving the idea of having a rodent in her house come Christmas and Summer. Oh and mom, what if I go on a trip while bootsie’s still around? Will you take care of/ hold her for me? 🙂

actually…

I’m not going to the rec today. I believe that I have good reason, too.

  1. I am on the tail end of a nasty cold
  2. My cough from that sounds… interesting
  3. I am sneezing up “things”
  4. Work was tough today
  5. And despite the fact that I took a nap this morning, I am still tired
  6. I have reading I should do
  7. I have reading I want to do
  8. My knees are sore… maybe not
  9. The only spin class they have interferes with 2-3 things I have to do tonight

Oh man, I couldn’t get to 10 reasons. Bah- still not going. But wanna know what #9 is about?? Yeah you do. We have our weekly floor dinner tonight, 5:30. I have campus ministry to go to tonight 7pm. And then I get to go to the library and study (with friends).

Maybe library boy will be there tonight. And yes, I know his name. It may or may not be like gym boy, who i still haven’t seen! There are many ___ boys around here:

  • Surfer boy
  • Elevator boy
  • Track Boy
  • __________ Baseball Boy*
  • Football Boy
  • Tall boy
  • Chemistry Boy
  • Cute Best Buy Boy
  • Breakfast Boy

Numbers 2, 4 and 9 (elevator, football, and breakfast) are not quite as significant in my life as the others, but still important.

*I can’t say the first part because I think that it would be too revealing of who he is- but there are the same number of spaces as there are letters, so feel free to guess.
