That Tall Girl

Diez Cosas

Since I am kindasortareallyextremely bored and tired I will give you a list of 10 things you probably don’t know about me. My mom doesn’t even know all of these (hi mom!).

  1. I really like Beatles music- although I haven’t listened to all of it and can’t distinguish it easily from other groups while on the radio…
  2. I talk to myself in Spanish when I’m tired or bored, making up pretend conversations with people i know
  3. I might want to marry gym-boy… but it would help if he talked to me more. I had a “spanish conversation” with “him” after not seeing him at the gym today
  4. **edited out**
  5. **edited out**
  6. I went to a private Christian school through 8th grade (actually two, because I moved before 2nd grade) and I’ve gone to 2 public high schools- because I moved again during the 1st semester of my freshman year.
  7. I love to sneeze- this one was inspired by a recent sneeze 🙂 . I used to make myself sneeze when I was younger.
  8. I have clothes that I wear from 5th grade. In fact, I’m wearing some shorts from that era right now haha.
  9. My parents made me start sports. And I was kicking and screaming all the way. I had to choose from volleyball (minimal running), basketball (quite a bit of running), and track (all running as far as I was concerned). I chose volleyball in 6th grade. Played for my schools until through halfway through my junior year season (yeah, remember that coach i mentioned in #5 ((she was truely out to get me))- I quit the team) and then during my freshman year i had my knee scoped so couldn’t play for most of that. Played club vb 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th. Played summer vb league a couple years. Did throwing with track in 8th and 10th grade. Now after my reading my lengthy (??) sports history…
  10. Today I went 20 mi in spinning and then ran 1 mi and I’ve never felt stronger. I’m pooped now, but hey- I really accomplished something today. In fact, I’m starting to feel happy with the way my body looks. Yeah, I’m no skinny minnie, but I’m strong and healthy and beautiful (i can tell the last one by all of the boys flocking to me lately 😉 ).

Since I graduated from high school this may and had oodles of people over at out house my dad made a poster like thing of pictures representing different times in my life. It has made me realize what a roller coaster I’ve been on in the last 3 years.

Here’s what I looked like my sophomore year:

Sorry that there’s a bit of a flash showing up in the picture- I don’t have a scanner.

I used to think that this was a “fat” picture. Hahaha, I look skeletal in this! Boy was my body image perception messed up.  I have to say that I love myself a lot more now than I did when this was taken. I don’t quite know what’s made the difference, but whatever it was I’m really glad.

There are few things in life that make me feel like a jock. Veeerryy few… but they are very special to me 🙂

  1. Wearing basketball T-shirts. I always steal my little sister’s bball shirt, as seen above. I wore it to tge gym today since she’s at the AAU 12U 11U national tournament for basketball with her team. I got a lot of “you must play basketball”‘s today. I don’t- never have. One time in gym i made a point for the other team :/ . It just makes me feel like “Yah, I’m 6’3 and 207bs. Wouldn’t you like to meet up with me on a basketball court?!”
  2. Wearing a baseball hat. People say I look like a soccer mom when I wear my *editedout* hat (it’s my only one 😦 ) Arent soccer moms supposed to be athletic??
  3. *edited out*
  4. When my vertical jump was 22 inches. That was at the height of my athletecism. I honestly believe that I’m stronger now then I was at that point and I’m probably equivalent in aerobic abilities- but I’m quite a bit heavier. Anyways, we’re working on changing that 😉
  5. Running for 20 minutes non-stop. I have had quite the bout with shin splints recently. I think it’s mainly from improper running technique (running on my toes- habbit from volleyball)
  6. Sweat “stains”. I love wearing a gray shirt and having my sweat show up on my back, neck, and i guess pits too. It tells me I’ve been working hard.
  7. Dripping in sweat. If I work hard at all I will get really sweaty- but I still want to soak a shirt with sweat one of these days.
  8. Taking a shower at the gym. There’s just something about it- can’t really explain it. You have to wear flip flops in there, but it’s still cool.

House v. Car Blah

Today I didn’t go to the gym because I was too lazy 😦 But I went tonight with the sister and the dad. I talked to gym boy a lot tonight- to make up for the fact that I havent seen his gorgeous face in like 2 weeks. Our conversation didnt stray far from the topic of there being volleyball at the gym tonight.

On our way out the door my dad tells me, “Well, He’d really dilute the race.” My mom and grandma have this thing about “diluting the race” since we’re really tall if we married short people it would balance out the tallness in the kids. B thinks he’s too short for me too. Maybe he’s like 5’10? I’m 6’3. Big difference? Not too bad.

In the car dad gave us the talk about how we need to… ahh this is boring.

I bought gas today. Almost $51 !!!

-Maybe I’ll be more in the mood for writing tomorrow. George Lopez has my attention right now.
