Back to school…

Homework on the first day. Man, oh man. How in the goodness gracious am I supposed to write a 2 page paper where I “discuss your self-identity and the factors that influence what it means to be an individual”??? That right there is more like a 4 page paper. Or maybe 2 different papers? Homework can be quite… frustrating at times. That’s why I’m glad to have my friends. Without them I would surely loose my mind (somewhere along Mid-Campus Drive, probably).

Although yesturday was a crazy day filled with meetings, exercise, and class I still found time to hang out with the girls a bit. Two of my friends K and B turned 20 this weekend so we got together for dinner and cake. Here is an unatractive picture of the birthday girls blowing out the candles on the cake:

I’m not going to the rec today. I believe that I have good reason, too.

  1. I am on the tail end of a nasty cold
  2. My cough from that sounds… interesting
  3. I am sneezing up “things”
  4. Work was tough today
  5. And despite the fact that I took a nap this morning, I am still tired
  6. I have reading I should do
  7. I have reading I want to do
  8. My knees are sore… maybe not
  9. The only spin class they have interferes with 2-3 things I have to do tonight

Oh man, I couldn’t get to 10 reasons. Bah- still not going. But wanna know what #9 is about?? Yeah you do. We have our weekly floor dinner tonight, 5:30. I have campus ministry to go to tonight 7pm. And then I get to go to the library and study (with friends).

Maybe library boy will be there tonight. And yes, I know his name. It may or may not be like gym boy, who i still haven’t seen! There are many ___ boys around here:

  • Surfer boy
  • Elevator boy
  • Track Boy
  • __________ Baseball Boy*
  • Football Boy
  • Tall boy
  • Chemistry Boy
  • Cute Best Buy Boy
  • Breakfast Boy

Numbers 2, 4 and 9 (elevator, football, and breakfast) are not quite as significant in my life as the others, but still important.

*I can’t say the first part because I think that it would be too revealing of who he is- but there are the same number of spaces as there are letters, so feel free to guess.

Diez Cosas

Since I am kindasortareallyextremely bored and tired I will give you a list of 10 things you probably don’t know about me. My mom doesn’t even know all of these (hi mom!).

  1. I really like Beatles music- although I haven’t listened to all of it and can’t distinguish it easily from other groups while on the radio…
  2. I talk to myself in Spanish when I’m tired or bored, making up pretend conversations with people i know
  3. I might want to marry gym-boy… but it would help if he talked to me more. I had a “spanish conversation” with “him” after not seeing him at the gym today
  4. **edited out**
  5. **edited out**
  6. I went to a private Christian school through 8th grade (actually two, because I moved before 2nd grade) and I’ve gone to 2 public high schools- because I moved again during the 1st semester of my freshman year.
  7. I love to sneeze- this one was inspired by a recent sneeze 🙂 . I used to make myself sneeze when I was younger.
  8. I have clothes that I wear from 5th grade. In fact, I’m wearing some shorts from that era right now haha.
  9. My parents made me start sports. And I was kicking and screaming all the way. I had to choose from volleyball (minimal running), basketball (quite a bit of running), and track (all running as far as I was concerned). I chose volleyball in 6th grade. Played for my schools until through halfway through my junior year season (yeah, remember that coach i mentioned in #5 ((she was truely out to get me))- I quit the team) and then during my freshman year i had my knee scoped so couldn’t play for most of that. Played club vb 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th. Played summer vb league a couple years. Did throwing with track in 8th and 10th grade. Now after my reading my lengthy (??) sports history…
  10. Today I went 20 mi in spinning and then ran 1 mi and I’ve never felt stronger. I’m pooped now, but hey- I really accomplished something today. In fact, I’m starting to feel happy with the way my body looks. Yeah, I’m no skinny minnie, but I’m strong and healthy and beautiful (i can tell the last one by all of the boys flocking to me lately 😉 ).

Hey, Hey, Hey!

Except that I’m not fat albert. But I am ready for college- sorta. Despite my lack of motivation to do ANYTHING to do this week, I managed to buy bedding for my dorm room (and some other schtuff). Here’s the checklist (because you know how I like them):

  • quilt
  • electric blanket (but I got this for christmas)
  • sheets x2
  • non name brand “glad ware”
  • microwave
  • blender
  • mattress pad
  • plates, bowls, cups, silverware
  • and something else I’m sure

I’ve still got somethings to buy- like school supplies… can’t forget those. The roommates and I are in the midst of talking about how to furnish the shared areas like the bathroom. It’s going to look pretty plain 😦 but it will be easy on the wallet.

Speaking of the wallet… If the average price for gas this year is $4.50 it will cost me approx $22 per week in gas money to get to and from practice 5 times per week plus 10 miles of liesure driving- like going to Target to walk around and unwind- or buy socks, whichever I need to do at the time.

I’ll probably be posting pictures next week of the things that I have gotten- because I’m super excited about it and need at least something of interest to post.

Such a Long Day

Didn’t post yesturday because I was soo tired. I woke up at 5 to drive to *edited out**for orientation and enrollment. We got in town at 7:45 and headed over to the Union. Got there, stood in multiple lines and I soon parted ways with my mom: me to the student section, her with the parents.

In the big room we were divided by college. There was a brief presentation and then each college went to another room. After I introduced myself, I heard someone behind me ask, “Aren’t you a rower?” I turned around and saw E! I’ve only talked to her on Facebook, but I know that she’s really nice. We pretty much stayed together for the rest of the presentation stuff.

The power went out halfway through the presentation so it was cut short (you know with the tornado that hit campus 1.5 days prior). Then mom and I went to Hibachi Hut for lunch. That was yummy. We headed back to the Union and talked to *edited out*

When it came time to talk to my advisor, I explained about wanting to be a nurse practitioner, but with 3 bachelors degrees: microbiology, spanish, and nursing. He told me that I should consider being a Physician’s Assisstant. Not only will it be a shorter time in school, the pay is better than a nurse practitioner. I think I like this advisor: he knows his stuff.

EDIT: Here is a broken tree in the Union

Bad Day- That’s It

It’s been a long time since I’ve had a bad day. I need to vent- bear with me.

This morning I work up early thinking I would need to go into work early since the kids’ swimming was probably going to be cancelled just like B’s swimming. When I walked downstairs I found out that *edited out* was kit by a tornado last night. I have orientation and enrollment (freaking out about this one!) tomorrow=how lovely. (the wind erosion lab was the only building destroyed lol) I got ready and went to the gym at 7:30 am. I finished my workout at 8:35… or so I thought. Called the family. The kids still had swimming. Not a big deal except that I was across town(by their house, at the gym) and had to occupy myself for 2 hours before going in to work. Thank the Lord for classes at gyms. Went to a nice, easy yoga class.

Ok, at “work” now. The kids were really well behaved today :). We went to CVS pharmacy so the kids could get some candy. Some stupid guy almost Tboned me in the parking lot. Freakin-a, just leave me alone. We had some lunch- mine was terrible. Yes the one I posted a pic of last night. Sandwich- yuck. Frozen strawberries- no flavor. Tea- provoked the gag reflex. Plus I was super hungry today- because I was so emotionally distressed (it wasn’t as bad as some days but it was no picnic).

After nannying I got to go to my other job- starving! Got a lunchable at Quik Trip. I saw Megan- I miss talking to her everyday in calc :(. Got home from work (I had a 12 hour day) and this awaited me:

A 2.5 hour old (as in on the counter that long) hamburger patty. Would you eat that?! I hate hate hate coming home from work and not having any good food. I had to eat this:

At least I had this- actually I changed my mind and had strawberry instead.

As I am writing this from my basement the tornado is in our area and I can’t go to bed. I’m tired and cranky. At least it was pay day.

EDIT: I just realized that I haven’t seen gym boy all week. Oh no. And I didn’t get to go to water aerobics tonight: my fav class of the week.
