I woke up this morning and lazily got ready for my day. I did the usual and then added the finishing touches to my packing toward the end of my routine. At about 10, we left the house. Mom was with me, Dad was driving the minivan with all of my stuff in it. two hours later, we’re in *edited out*. First stop:lunch.
We went to wendy’s. I got my fav: southwest taco salad. it’s got chili in it! While in line we met a retired professor. Dr. L. He was very nice. We talked about his car ( and ‘34 ford- since we saw him driving it) and about him working on his new house. We talked a bit about me. (it was a long line) Then, what caught me off guard: since his new house is by the boathouse, he said to just drop on by his house any time- just to say hi. This is part of why I chose *edited out* . People are much friendlier over here.
Even people that are not from the area are nice. When I was checking in with my RA, a kid from h.s. walked up to me and asked if I needed any help unloading stuff. We knew each other- but never really talked much the past 4 years.
So it’s now 1 o’clock. We worked on moving my stuff in. (and i got my id card from the union somewhere in there) It took quite a while. But everything fits!
We make a walmart run. get some stuff. get back. tell my parents bye. no tears. put sutff away. have some spaghetti-o’s (with meatballs!) and a banana- separate, of course. put some more stuff away. called a friend. interupted her prayer meeting- sorry. got ready. went out for a bite. came back. made plans for tomorrow… all day tomorrow. realized that someone forgot to lock the door. turned the laptop on. spent an hour trying to get *edited out* to realize my computer was safe. now im here trying to hurry things up.
i have plenty of pictures. you’ll see some soon. maybe tomorrow. maybe in 5 years. (when i’m outta here?!)

Today I caved in and decided to drive to Branson, MO to see B play. So dad and I started on our drive a bit before dinner. But there’s something that you need to know…
I had baaaaad gas all afternoon. It started shortly after I left the gym- good thing too since gym-boy decided to start a conversation with me while we were lifting weights today (I skipped my run to lift while he was up there… I know, that’s bad). It was the kind where you feel like you have to lean to one side so it can escape properly (I said TMI Tuesday for a reason). It was explosion after explosion and it didn’t let up when I got in the car with dad.
I guess you could say it’s a good thing that I had gas. I mean you can’t have a road trip without a gaseous passenger. Since dad didn’t especially care for the smell he made me open the window each time I had to let one. Which is fine, he does that frequently on our road trips… but I never knew the reason why before this trip.
You see, the car smelled like “road trip”. The only thing I can pin down that aroma to is my gas. I guess I could add that the minivan constantly smells of road trip. What does that mean mom??

Today was pretty low key, except it wasn’t. After we got home from church and ate lunch Dad opened his gifts. I got him a cool wire basket for flipping fish on the grill:
Later Dad took me to Costco and to Best Buy where I got a new iPod and Nike+iPod to track my training progress on my new program to get ready to run a 5K- eventually I want to do a triathlon.
And since I haven’t posted a picture of my new laptop:
Oh and we got Dad a new toupee (it’s blue, so it doesn’t really match his hair, oh well)

Didn’t post yesturday because I was soo tired. I woke up at 5 to drive to *edited out**for orientation and enrollment. We got in town at 7:45 and headed over to the Union. Got there, stood in multiple lines and I soon parted ways with my mom: me to the student section, her with the parents.
In the big room we were divided by college. There was a brief presentation and then each college went to another room. After I introduced myself, I heard someone behind me ask, “Aren’t you a rower?” I turned around and saw E! I’ve only talked to her on Facebook, but I know that she’s really nice. We pretty much stayed together for the rest of the presentation stuff.
The power went out halfway through the presentation so it was cut short (you know with the tornado that hit campus 1.5 days prior). Then mom and I went to Hibachi Hut for lunch. That was yummy. We headed back to the Union and talked to *edited out*
When it came time to talk to my advisor, I explained about wanting to be a nurse practitioner, but with 3 bachelors degrees: microbiology, spanish, and nursing. He told me that I should consider being a Physician’s Assisstant. Not only will it be a shorter time in school, the pay is better than a nurse practitioner. I think I like this advisor: he knows his stuff.
EDIT: Here is a broken tree in the Union
