Free Chapstick!

Yes, you heard it right, free chapstick. Like name brand stuff, folks. On sunday I was looking through that Kansas City Star and flipping through the coupon books, I totally found a rebate for shimmer or naturals chapstick. Heck yes.

I need some chapstick (feel free to send me lotion too, mom… and some more brownies if you feel like it) because it’s starting to get cold here. We’re talking in the 40’s. Oh, no. Cold means snow, and snow means loss of toes frumpy winter coats. Last winter I tried to count how many events of snow we had (more like days it snowed) and I lost count after 25.

I guess now would be the time to break out into more product placement joyfulness. Nike makes some fantabulous thermal gear. It actually keeps you warm- w/o going overboard like a winter coat might do when put into the mix with your morning run.

I suggest some tights and a long sleeve shirt in the same material. When it starts getting even colder you might want to think about adding a thermal headband and mittens (not gloves!!). As for your shoes, Yaktrax work wonders when it’s icy outside. It’s kinda like chains… but for your shoes. They might be a bit funny to run in at first, but you’ll totally get the hang of it (if you like to run when it’s that cold outside).

Now, you might say to yourself, “Man, I look crazy!” but you don’t. Especially if you start adding more layers on top of you spandex suit. Try wearing a T-shirt and shorts over your thermal gear.

If you followed the links I gave, you might see $$$ surrounding your head. In that case, make a run over to the nearest Marshalls, T.J. Maxx, Ross, etc. to get the good stuff before anyone else can get their grimy little hands on it. Seriously though, just check it out and be warm this winter

Check it Out!

Look at me, I’m 18! The day started with me opening presents (!!!) my fav? the nike hrm. super cool if ya ask me.

We had got to go to church this morning. I chose an earlier service, I hate getting home at 1:30pm. Anyways… that afternoon- I went to see the new BATMAN movie. All this talk about heathy-boy being crazy good- it’s all true. it was super cool if ya ask me.

Hillary came over after that and brought me the balloons noted above and a mini cheesecake, since she knows i love cheesecake! what a friend, huh? she’s super cool if ya ask me.

for my birthday dinner, we went to my fav restaurant in KC. but you have to go to my new food blog to hear about it. it’s super cool if ya ask me.

After all that we went to HyVee and I bought some lottery scratchers tickets. I came sooo close to winning $4000 I could smell it, but alas, i didnt win anything. that’s not cool. but buying lottery tickets: super cool if ya ask me.

**go to TTG (thattallgirl) Fuel, please!**

My BPM Just Went Up

Or in more common language: “I think my heart just skipped a beat” when I saw gym-boy putting the volleyball net up while I was running on the track (that is above and surrounds the gymnasium). I might have to confess to you that he is the reason I ran for 20 minutes straight (the whole running thing is still new and exciting!). Watching him is deffintely on my decadence list. So Is talking to him, which i did for like 2 minutes on my way out of the gym (it was about volleyball last night and how not-fun it was- he has such a cute smile!)

After running I went to lift weights. It’s always a bit akward when almost every college age guy has his eye on me the whole time. (Is it flirting if I make eye contact several times :p ?) Soon I ran into a mom and her kids that have been in my sisters’ classes. O (my sisters) and JR (the boy) used to have a crush on each other. I think he’s kinda cute for a 14-15 year old. But not as cute as those college boys 😉

Speaking of boys. There were a couple of guys that kept interupting my swimming laps at the outdoor pool. I didn’t quite feel like having them even near me since I’m pretty sure that my swimsuit doesn’t cover my chest area very well when I swim in a horizonal manner. I check often and it’s ok, but it doesn’t feel like it.

Any suggestions for the swimsuit dilema? A new suit isn’t an option since this in the longest-in-the-body one piece that I could find (that didnt make me look “big”)

*** A nike+ graph to come soon. I’m too lazy/I dont feel well enough to go upstairs now

I Feel Like Growling

Had a bad day at work. Let’s just say a 30 minute time out was involved (I nanny). So we went to the pool to separate the kids. I knew I should go to the gym after work, but I really didn’t want to. Until I saw a cute boy. Then I decided that I probably should work out a bit. So I went to the gym and ran and lifted- no swimming, I was pooped.

My fastest pace was a 4.08 min/km pace. (Does that sound right to you?! I’m not sure I remember) Whatever it was my pace was 4.08 something at that tall point in the middle of the graph there.

Today I took my nike+ for my run (I went after work- no energy this morning) at the gym. It was such a wonderful run! I ran about 2 mi in 20 min. (Sorry there’s no pic- wordpress is being silly) The course is rather small- 1/12 mi per lap- so it’s almost hypnotising running around it. Since it was Frisday night almost nobody was at the gym… it was so peaceful: but it meant no swimming today. I’m scared that a shark will eat me in the pool and nobody will notice since they’re all on the treadmills.
On another note… I talked to my roommate!**edited out**

On another other note… 🙂 I went to the grocery store today to get dinner and lunch stuff. I grabbed a luscous lemon stoneyfield farms yogurt and when I opened it at home it was strawberry! I was so dissapointed… Strawberry is yummy but lemon is almost heavenly. And I needed that after such a boring day like today.

Hey, I ran a bit over a mile today! That is the 1st time in almost 2 years that I’ve been able to do that! I’m so excited to be making progress like this. Sadly, I didnt bring my Nike+ with me 😦 so I cant tell you the exact milage- but I can tell you that I ran for about 20 min! I’m a slow runner- maybe I ran 2 miles?? The instructor only lapped me once… maybe twice…

D, who teaches Thurday night ride and run and then water aerobics had a sub for water tonight. While T was a very nice person, she just wasn’t the same as D. It just seemed to drag.

I’m so tired- I just want to sleep. No more writing

P.S. I havent seen gym-boy all week. Ay Currumba

Funny Noises Coming From the Corner

And they are coming from my water bottle. It’s the only noise in the room, since half the family is out of the house, so it’s hard to ignore. I have to say that I’ve gotten used to the gurgling today since I’ve been home most of the day trying to recover from the bike incident yestuday. Hey, bruises aren’t fun!

Today, I tried out my new Nike+!!! I calibrated it and everything this morning right when I got to the gym. My graph may look a bit curvy- it’s because I was running intervals to get ready for my triathlon 🙂

Happy Fathers Day!

Today was pretty low key, except it wasn’t. After we got home from church and ate lunch Dad opened his gifts. I got him a cool wire basket for flipping fish on the grill:

Later Dad took me to Costco and to Best Buy where I got a new iPod and Nike+iPod to track my training progress on my new program to get ready to run a 5K- eventually I want to do a triathlon.

And since I haven’t posted a picture of my new laptop:

Oh and we got Dad a new toupee (it’s blue, so it doesn’t really match his hair, oh well)
