ok, I’m here. I’m feeling pretty legit today. Why?

  • I went to the doctor all by myself, got the meds I needed to help me get over the rest of this bug, and got myself home just in time for dinner.
  • I had my first ever verbal test in Spanish. it lasted about 6:30. I was way stressed about it, but I totally was able to talk with my partner for the whole time.
  • I fixed my camera

I’m probably going to get back to the exercise tomorrow. I think that I’m ready for it. (just watch me collapse or something now that I’ve said that). At dinner I sorta had an appetite again, which is usually a good indicator for me that I’m ready to get back in the swing of things.

I’m not going to lie, it can be hard to get back up after a setback like this. Honestly I feel that if you don’t have something to motivate you, you won’t push yourself. So today, I would like to challenge you to pick a goal. Not a weight, not a dress size, but a fitness goal.

Choose something like running your first 5k, 10k, half marathon, etc. Or something similar to the 100 pushup challenge that was going around this summer. Maybe you want to squat 2.5 times your body weight- because I do. Be the woman with the 25 lb dumbbells unstead of the 10’s or 15’s. Maybe you want to participate in that triathlon next May. You get what I’m saying.

It’s much easier to work towards a goal when you’re feeling like you just want to throw in the towel… and with flu season just around the corner, start putting those goals into practice. Like Nike, Just Do It.

EDIT:And since I’m a sucker for free stuff:

I entered the Gracie Gear Giveaway!

Check out Roni’s Weight Loss Blog for more information.

EDIT2: Roni has a post that has some pretty interesting info on this subject, check it out!

Yeah, see that… the RSS feed for my new twitter account? Yep, it’s new.

It isn’t the prettiest looking widget that I’ve got over there, but it’s nifty. I love that I can text twitter and it will update it for me. That way you can know about the next time I see the mutant squirrel that lives by my psychology building.

I’m noticing that it takes a while to process that I’ve posted something new… so you may not hear about me almost getting run over by a bicycle until 2 hours after the fact.

And I’m feeling quite a bit better now. I’m exhausted still but at least I don’t feel like puking every time I move my head.

… if that even makes sense. Have you ever had one of those weeks where it’s just nonstop chaos? I can raise 2 hands to that. I can see why adults like a glass of wine with dinner now.

I just feel like complaining about this week (it’s been one of the most stressful experiences of my life), and I cant complain to the roomie because she knows what I’ve been going through. Like those 2 nights in a row of 4 hours of sleep (with multiple hours of exercise) and no time for naps- sorry about being grouchy… even though I still feel like tackeling someone (nobody in particular, mind you)

So since today is a low key day, I decided to bring my lunch to my room and watch some ER on the laptop. I got my soup; I’m wearing a hoodie; I’m watching ER in the dark, with some desk lamps on. Bad choice. Now I want to tackel somebody AND cry (the topic just stressed me out, with some Dr. dying and all- but yes, I totally ate my lunch watching fake blood and vomit squirt all over the screen). Lovely.

It’s days like these, when I have the time, that I love to go exercise. Just be aggressive, powerful, and sweaty. Get those endorphins pumping through my veins. Forget about my stress, completely focussing on what I’m doing at the moment.

I am completely convinced that exercising is what keeps me… me. Happy and ready to go. Don’t lie, you know what I’m talking about. Runner’s high. Yeah, without that people would start calling me psychowoman instead of tg. Maybe they would start calling me Danger… I’d be fine with that, it’s already my middle name you know.

Back to the runner’s high thing. Actually, not really. I need another nap. I think I’ve got a bug, and I want it to go away.

and it was totally 33 degrees outside this morning. my gear saved me.

… I’m a loser. It’s Friday night and I’m blogging. Yep, you guessed it, I’m sitting in my dorm room because there’s nothing better to do. Honestly I have good reasons to want to go to bed early, like:

  • I’m exhausted
  • My roommate and suitemate are in Omaha for the weekend (for Navigators
  • I’m sore
  • I have things to do tomorrow

Now that Ya’ll know why I’m going to bed at 8:30 on a friday night in college (btw, I don’t party/drink, if that explains anything) I will continue with regularly scheduled programming

You know that you wanted to see what I eat. Well here it is. If you really want to try to figure out the calories, you just go ahead and do that, then let me know in the comments.

**I saw gym boy today!!! I was walking out of my Spanish class about 20 minutes late (talking to the prof. about the outline…) and he was “parked” outside of the building I was walking out of. It was a  nice day so he had the window rolled down in what is not his car (because I totally am a creepy stalker and know what he drives) There was eye contact. Wish there was a wave… but I think he might be in a frat and was with his frat… brothers… is that what you call them??**

Interesting Morning/Weekend

Nasty rain makes people do funny things, I’ve decided… like pull weeds at 7:30 in the morning, bad weather included. know, it sounds strange but I can’t really ellaborate other than saying it was fun. Yes, I just said that I had fun pulling weeds. But it is a little bit different than when your parents tell you to- so don’t expect anything fancy when I come back home, mom.

… because I went home this weekend. First trip home from college. Guess what I had for dinner my first night home: 2 lean pockets and a 2 serving blue bunny ice cream dish (which I guess was better than what I had last night when I got back: fruit/yogurt, small salad and chocolate cake). I probably shouldn’t complain about the food though since mom did my laundry, bought me clothes (holy smokes i found jeans at wal mart that were long enough and were somewhat proportionate to my huge thighs), bought me random items, cleaned my car (vacuum, rainX, windows), put new windshield wipers on my car, and filled my gas tank (gas was $2.99 !!!)

It was my first big drive by myself, and I didn’t die. The way home was easy-peasy. I hit rush hour traffic in Topeka, KS but I let people pass me and realize that there were cars going just as slow in front of me so it was all good. I payed the tolls just fine too. But the way back. Dang, son. Let’s just start off with saying one of the reasons I got new windshield wipers and rainX was because of the storm that was between me and the university. There were points at which I was going 50 in a 70 zone because visibility/ traffic was that bad. Add to that the semis that were following way too close and changing langes/making walls across the 3 lane interstate sporatically.

I should probably add that I went to my gym twice. Once on Friday, and again on Saturday morning. On friday they didn’t make me exchange my keys for a locker because they know me/ my keys were attatched to my wallet. There was a new guy there (probably to replace gym boy) and he was freaking out when Jason told me I didn’t have to turn my keys in. He was all like “who is she that she doesn’t have to turn her keys in?!” and I’m all like “I’m important around here. Didn’t you get the memo??” not really. But those thoughts were totally flying around the room. And one last thing (because this is getting long) at water aerobics I was the life of the party; ‘cuz I’m cool like that.

Now it’s time for my mid-morning nap.

Camera Cleanout

Since I kinda want to get these pictures off of my camera, this post shall be crazy.

The roommate’s feet after walking 1.5 mi on “city” streets.

Here’s bootsie and nibbles meeting each other. It’s quite a story. We were like 95% sure nibbles was pregnant. She had been acting like she was nesting and bit people when they reached into her cage. Plus her belly seemed a bit big. Well, she was just in heat. It’s was quite interesting when we put them together. Nibbles was like, come on, I hope you’re a boy.

Nibbles got hungry.

Saw this on my way to class today. (it’s TMNT by the way)

Me in 1974. Thanks to yearbookyourself.com

Went to the Rec today. First time ever. Pretty fun. I worked out on the rowing machine. It had a good view of the basketball courts where there was a pick up game of shirts v. skins. The ergs (rowing machines) were in the midst of some weight lifting machines= lots of boys. It was funny, I could see them watching me in the glass (it’s reflective ya know). Eventually one of them got on another erg and promptly decided (20 sec later) that it wasn’t the exercise for him.

News on the tallness front- has to do with the above paragraph. When I stood up, you could tell some of them were shocked at how tall I was. And at dinner, someone (RIGHT next to me) was like “wow, tall people”. Am I another species??

Going home on friday. Right after class. Got a list of things to do. It’s like 2 pages long. Includes: things to bring, take, and buy.

And Tiger Balm officially smells better than Icy Hot.

Oh baby, mama’s sore. Adding different athletic adventures to your life will do that I guess. It made it real interesting standing around in Chem lab. Especially since my drawer with all my glassware and stuff is almost on the floor it’s so low. It was a kinda boring lab too.

Now I’m sitting at study table, waiting for Mr. President to talk… Ok, he’s done talking. Dang, we in trouble. $700 Billion. Someone just told all of us that if you had $1 billion on the day Jesus was born (about 2000 years ago) and if you spent $1,000 every day since then you would still have half of it left now (I thought that was a really cool analogy, so I’m sharing it with you). There’s like what… 300 million citizens in the USA, that’s a couple thousand dollars for each person. I like work, but not it all of it goes to the government.

I guess all I keep thinking about is me entering the work force soon, buying a house in 10 years, and having some moolah for those late night ice cream cravings. No, really, it all makes me a bit nervous. Like more nervous than I am about finding out how well I did on my Spanish exam today.

It was a scary test. It was almost all responses in complete sentences. I guess that I don’t know my Spanish grammar as well as I had originally thought. I guess that’s why I’ll probably be taking the Spanish Composition and Grammar class next… that’s right folks, TG is entering the big girl classes.

I have the worst headache. It’s probably because I’ve been running all day long. I was so tired this morning that I came back to the room at lunch time and took a nap. When I get back after this I want to go straight to bed. I guess I better get crack-a-lackin’ on my homework. Not that I really have any.

Everyone, Say hello to Bootsie

This is Bootsie. She is my new baby. But she’s actually a rat.

Ok… let me back up a bit here. You’re probably wondering whats going on. This weekend I went home with my roomate. One of the things we decided on was to buy rats while we were in town (her town is actually a metropolis of 50k, but still larger than our little college town).

Anyways, on saturday we made our 1st trip to PetCo. Rats, cage, food, etc: check. Come home. My baby is sluggish and coughing up blood. Trip to PetCo #2: told to go to the vet (free of charge- but we soon find out they’re closed). 3rd visit to PetCo: get meds for the baby rat.

Then we go see the Producers at the community theater: it was super cute. A bit more sexual than I was expecting, but then again it’s a Gene Wilder thing.

Sunday we go to church, then PetCo and get a bigger cage (for the 2 of them, once mine is healthy) Did I mention we got 2?? Here is B’s: Dr. Nibbles (she bites. and the name sounds, um different, is you say it 5x fast)

And here’s us coming home:

Ok. So now they’re all moved in an everything. I look at my wall o’ stuff and see this. I guess i’m running a 5k next sunday? Probably should have started running again sooner than today. Probably should go work on that.

And I thought I’d add that my mom is just loving the idea of having a rodent in her house come Christmas and Summer. Oh and mom, what if I go on a trip while bootsie’s still around? Will you take care of/ hold her for me? :)

Just Another Manic… Saturday. Wish it were Friday?

Although my cold is breaking up, ie my nose is running and i have a cough, I really just don’t feel well still. I want another day in my weekend. Probably the only way that would happen is if we got 2x the ammount of rain we got yesturday and the whole campus woulld be under like 5 bajillion feet of water. Not really.

But it did rain an incredible amount yesturday. I walked through puddles that covered the tops of my feet (while wearing flip flops- cuz it was warm out). My hair was absolutley drenched almost all day. In the morning it got wet, shower=wet, walking to class it got wet. I guess I should have gotten that umbrella from my car sooner than last night, when I went out to buy gas…

Before watching She’s the Man with some girls on my floor. Thats a cute movie. You should watch it if you have the chance. I think it’s about to be added to the entrance requirements here, that you have to watch this movie if youre a girl, right along with that 21 ACT score (out of 36).

And I did sleep in this morning. Totally skipped breakfast. Actually I had a cliff Z bar (my new fav. granola bars) then went over to a friend’s house to watch The Holiday and have lunch. We ended up going to the farmers market too, where I bought some apples. I got 7 medium sized apple for $1.25. Im totally going back there next weekend for my produce fix.

Now I need a nap. I am exhausted and it’s almost dinner time. Going to go take care of some basic human needs: sleep, food, and knowledge (studying for chem!)

After a shift at “work” I came back to my room to work on Espanol 4 homework. It took a lot longer than I was planning. I had to look up words- because I’m not back into my spanish loving/knowing groove yet.

Shower? Oh yah, didn’t get to that until 11. And it was a nice shower- 30 minutes (approx.). Hey, I’m not paying the energy bill. I’m still a bit stiff from this morning though, even after stretching out.

Ok. now the interesting stuff. I got dressed. Long bodied, leopard print ish, short sleeved blouse thing with jean shorts. The shirt kinda covered my shorts if I didn’t keep it in place. Is that why those boys were staring at my in the dining center? Or was it just the normal- imgoingtostare@youandnotsayawordcuzimtoochicken . Who knows.

We’re not carrying on the experiment at dinner tonight- I’ve changed into more comfortable clother: Tshirt and running shorts.

Off to work on Chem, baby.

**just a note: gymboy, you are more than welcome to stare at me while I’m in line at the dining center… really, anytime.**
