Just thought that I would check in and let you all know what’s new in my life.
On tuesday night I went over to the gym and met gym oy’s replacements… they were quite the dissappointment. The boy was too young. The girl was a girl and a jerk. After checking in I went back to the “cycling studio” to wait for my spin class that I thought would start at 5. When 5:10 came I went to look at the schedule, the gym cancelled that class! What losers. From there I had to go run on the track (because the machines were busy). I ran for 20 minutes until that (cute) guy told me it was funny how threw my right elbow out every so often. After that I decided to try a step class.
Wow, I will never do that again. Ever again. I got lost with the stepping on and off of the step. After about 15 minutes of torture (because I have no coordination whatsoever) I told the instructuctor I just couldn’t handle it and left.
If you’re interested I went to a spin class at 5:30 wednesday morning before we go on the road. Apparently my middle sister also woke up at 5. She couldn’t stop complaining how she was so sleepy… I just would like to say: Suck it up, Sister! Not only did I wake up 5 minutes earlier than her but I went and cycled for 45 minutes (at an intense rate)
Having worked up an appetite I went to Panera to grab a blueberry bagel (my new fav!) Then I went to Wally World and found several running tops there on clearance for $3. I had already raided the one at school (stuff was $1 there, like a super cute running skort!) Then we got on the road after killing way too much time.
I haven’t been up to much since then. I started reading Twilight by Stephanie Meyer yesturday and I’m almost finished. It’s not particularly my favorite book out there. It’s only so-so. But it’s an easy read and I’d like to know what everyone else is talking about. I probably could finish it tomorrow (in the down time when everyone is getting ready for our feast, we’re having it on black friday this year!) but I kinda want something to read on my 9 hour drive home…

Nasty rain makes people do funny things, I’ve decided… like pull weeds at 7:30 in the morning, bad weather included. know, it sounds strange but I can’t really ellaborate other than saying it was fun. Yes, I just said that I had fun pulling weeds. But it is a little bit different than when your parents tell you to- so don’t expect anything fancy when I come back home, mom.
… because I went home this weekend. First trip home from college. Guess what I had for dinner my first night home: 2 lean pockets and a 2 serving blue bunny ice cream dish (which I guess was better than what I had last night when I got back: fruit/yogurt, small salad and chocolate cake). I probably shouldn’t complain about the food though since mom did my laundry, bought me clothes (holy smokes i found jeans at wal mart that were long enough and were somewhat proportionate to my huge thighs), bought me random items, cleaned my car (vacuum, rainX, windows), put new windshield wipers on my car, and filled my gas tank (gas was $2.99 !!!)
It was my first big drive by myself, and I didn’t die. The way home was easy-peasy. I hit rush hour traffic in Topeka, KS but I let people pass me and realize that there were cars going just as slow in front of me so it was all good. I payed the tolls just fine too. But the way back. Dang, son. Let’s just start off with saying one of the reasons I got new windshield wipers and rainX was because of the storm that was between me and the university. There were points at which I was going 50 in a 70 zone because visibility/ traffic was that bad. Add to that the semis that were following way too close and changing langes/making walls across the 3 lane interstate sporatically.
I should probably add that I went to my gym twice. Once on Friday, and again on Saturday morning. On friday they didn’t make me exchange my keys for a locker because they know me/ my keys were attatched to my wallet. There was a new guy there (probably to replace gym boy) and he was freaking out when Jason told me I didn’t have to turn my keys in. He was all like “who is she that she doesn’t have to turn her keys in?!” and I’m all like “I’m important around here. Didn’t you get the memo??” not really. But those thoughts were totally flying around the room. And one last thing (because this is getting long) at water aerobics I was the life of the party; ‘cuz I’m cool like that.
Now it’s time for my mid-morning nap.

So the Chem test really wasn’t that bad. I only missed a couple questions (some because I was stupid/ should have known better and one because of phrasing) AND raised my grade in there by 30%. I think it’s a pretty good day. And my TA for lab knows my name. I don’t know how many labs he conducts but I’m sure it’s a lot. Just letting you know mom and dad, that probably the closest I will get to my professor knowing my name, except for in Spanish.
Which speaking of Spanish… I found out today that I get to give an 8 minute speech on Oct 31st. Yahoo! Now not only will I be able to say that I stumble through long speeches in my native tongue, but also in my not so 2nd language.
Actually I’m kind of excited about it; challenges can be great learning tools sometimes, ya know. I’m also excited about going to the rec tomorrow( a new challenge). Or at least that’s the plan. I haven’t been yet, although I probably should be going. My shin splints are pretty much gone now I think, and I’m dying to run (on a track mind you, not cross country!), or take a spinning class! (for $3…) Hey some girls are willing to spend that on coffee whereas I am willing to spending it on exercise. Yeah, that makes me feel like a good person inside.
Plus going to the rec gives me an opportunity to ride my bike… which I kinda haven’t done yet. My excuses: I wanted to familiarize myself with the campus first and all my classes are within 10 minutes walking distance and smack dab in the middle of campus= tons of traffic, both pedestrians and cars. The rec is kinda sorta off to the side of everything. If I time it right (as in not during passing period) I should get the road to myself. Heck yes.

One fish
Two fish
Red fish
Blu… backpack!
Sorry, I couldn’t help but use the fishies as a shoe in to my new backpack when I saw this shirt. (thanks mom for hiding modeling!)
Now what gangsta wouldn’t want this Tshirt?
While at Kohl’s I got my school shopping done. They had an awesome clearance section- which had just the things I was looking for: (jersey?) knit skirts. I also got some tanks to wear at practice- they were $2.80 each. I know, I’m pretty awesome at finding deals.
I also got a new laptop today- since the pink dell ain’t workin so great. You can see it next to my new baby amongst my new computer garbage:
Yeah, it’s an HP. All my friends but one got HP’s. They all like theirs. Therefore: I got a new HP instead of another silly dell computer. Haha, it was very funny: Dad said, “Now you shouldnt have problems with this one. At least I hope.” Then I thought my baby didn’t come with a charger. Called Dad and bestbuy to complain. Then I found it. Then I couldn’t find my SD card slot. Called Dad to say it didn’t have one (it’s crucial to blogging you know!) then he found it. Then I tried to put in my extended batteru, but I couldn’t get it to fit. Had Dad work on it. Finally I was right: it was the wrong battery lol. Now I gotta figure out how to get the extended battery when it’s not in the stores yet since this is such a new computer and I leave town in a week- and its currently on sale for $60 off.
Now all I’m concerned about is loading the *edited out* security thingy. I might win an iPod if I do this before school! I’m all up for free stuff and deals so if you ever feel like sending me stuff, go right ahead.
*picture edited out*
Sorry for the long post. I think that it could be mainly attributed to my outstanding humor, so your eyes shouldn’t fall out just yet. I’m off to watch more swimming/ get ready for bed. I’m tired and have a busy day ahead of me tomorrow. It will be my last saturday in town and last day of work/ saturday morning water aerobics.

As I’m sitting here I’ve got a snack. But not just any ordinary snack: kashi crackers + peanut butter. Can you say “yummo”? I haven’t had peanut butter in quite a while (we used to have a bad relationship, me and pb) but I decided that I could splurge a bit today (and probably needed to) since I burned a record 952 calories duirng my 1.5 hours of exercise today **edited out**
Normally Ill get somewhere between 500-750 calories burned. But today I added 30minutes of moderate effort on the elliptical to my normal 40 minute monday spin class. I also left it going when I walked to the spinning room and when I went upstairs to do abs with the group, where…
Our instructor instructed us to find a partner. That’s a problem. I’ve never been good at picking a partner for athletic things. In fact I would dread having to find someone to pepper (vb warm up: pass set and eventually spike/ down ball) with me a volleyball practice. Nobody would ever be my partner. I was always the odd one out. A lot of the time I had to work with the coach! Back to the gym… all the girls had their partners picked out already. All of them. Every last one. Taken. I had to work with one of the guys. (Everyone in the class is at least old enough to be my parent, except the instructor who is like 23ish) I had to work with one of the guys. Let me just say, he was very nice. But it was uncomfortable- especially when I was laying on the floor holding onto his ankles while bringing my legs up and him pushing my legs back down, he was standing behind me.
Andddd I don’t really know how to tie this up into once nice bow and finish the post. I lost my train of thought. **edited out**

I went to Mimi’s Cafe last night with the girls. After being ignored by our waiter for nearly 35 minutes we got a really cool waitress. She even took a group picture of us- but I prefer the one above (and since I’m the boss around here, this is the one I’ll post). Mostly we just caught up, since we haven’t really hung out all summer.
After Mimi’s we went to the park/skate park and played, like we used to do. Last night we hung out around the skating portion of the park, mainly inside of the bowl. That was super fun. You have to slide in- no jumping unless you’re insane. To get out, you have to have a running start, unless you’re me and can reach the ledge w/o trying.
Oh, I think I should add that I changed out of my dress before going to the park. Don’t want it to get dirty do we?
We stayed until about 10:30 and then the cops came. They reminded us what time the park closed, 30 minutes ago, and we rolled on outa there.
I have to say last night was much more fun than today was. After a grouling (sp??) water aerobics class filled with lap work I headed to work where I got to stare at 10 lbs (or maybe 15 lbs- it’s 3 weeks worth) of invoices i needed to file for 8 hours. Um, yah, didn’t finish those. Maybe next week… if I can get to them, of course. What? Last week’s my last week you say? Hmm, there’s not much I can do about that

Sorry, couldn’t resist the Oklahoma puns. Despite the fact that I live in Kansas, I am not a southern girl. I have been making quite a few ”southern realizations” lately. My fav: the little girl in front of us in line at the grocery store, about 6yo, was wearing a pink cowboy/cowgirl hat. Haha.
While I was at the grocery store I picked up a magazine. Thank you mom! Here it is with all my blogging stuf- minus my camera which is taking the picture. Yah, thats a water bottle; it’s critical to blogging!
This next portion isn’t going to flow well: a.ka. things will be jumpier than a mosh pit.
When we went out to lunch, there was a guy sitting at a table in front of us wearing a Georgia Tech (south!) Crew (rowing!) Tshirt. I made mom pose for me (she was facing me) while I took his picture. I know, I’m one sneaky girl.
I went to Body Works this morning. OOOOOOOOOOMG, I am so glad I have my gym back at home. When I walked in the door for this place, I wouldn’t even call it a psuedo-gym, the people there didn’t even tell me where things were at. For a second I seriously thought that had no cardio equipment. Then I saw it: old treadmills and even older recumbant bikes (EW!). OK, what ev. I know I ran yesturday and it wouldnt be good to run again with trying to get over shin splints and all. Then IT happened. I almost fell off the treadmill. Luckily the handlesbars extended 2 feet past my butt (?) and I caught myself. Not without escaping the view of B’s coach who was running next to me. Oh, my, that was embarassing. Fine, lets finish my mile, then go to the bikes. None of them worked. Calm down, I did some abs and called my mpm to pick me up, oh boy, that was like my pre drivers license life all over again!

After my wonderful workout this morning, where I ran for a total of 30 minutes (a personal best), I drove by work to pick up my paycheck and bought some gas (for a low, low price of $3.79!!) before heading home. When I got home I started packing for my weekend trip to Oklahoma!
B has yet another basketball tourney where I will be in attendence. According to the parents of other teams, we are the team to beat. I think that’s a nice place to be in.
Back to me. This hotel has a cool set up. Since they don’t have a “little gym” inside the hotel, you can go workout at the gym down the road, Body Works. We drove past it, it’s a hole in the wall of a strip mall. I’m not expecing much. I guess I should be happy for something, rather than being left empty-handed. (Although one of the main reasons I go to the gym is to see gym-boy. Who cares about meaningful conversation- nothing matters once you see those baby blues- at least I think that’s what color his eyes are)
Ugh, my “t” key doesn’t want to work. Really, I’ve been left unsatisfied by this computer. It is slow, it jumbles up things on the screen, the touch volume control hasn’t worked well at all, I hate vista, and the extended battery doesn’t last the 4.5 hours it’s supposed to. I’m pissed off and I want to go to bed. Hopefully my w/o at that “gym” will cheer me up (??).
Watching his always cheers me up (but I won’t be watching it because I want some shut eye!)
**I wish that boy at the front desk would stop trying to make eye contact with me. He’s too short for me… And I’m cranky**

I need to give some credit to Crabby McSlacker for this portion of my post… even though I was already thinking about posting about it today…
We totally got an AC unit in our spinning room at the gym today. Well, we probably got it yesturday, because it wasn’t there on monday. But gues what was there on monday?? Fans. Yes, three of them. Praise the Lord almighty! I have been told that it has reached 90* in there recently. It probably doesn’t help that it is located in a “renovated” raquetball court/room. They closed off the top because it was too noisy… and people were getting hit with raquetballs :/ . (no gym-boy today; it almost made me cry
)
As for the rest of my day- It was pretty low key, but still pretty awesome. After an intense spinning session I went to the library- yes I was still stinky… I picked up my books that were on hold: Anne of the Island and some Beverly Lewis amish book in the Abram’s Daughters series. Let’s just say I’m stoked to start reading these. Came home, talked with mom, had lunch, went to wal-mart and the dollar store, came home, snacked, napped, blogged, ate dinner, talked with my grandpa and aunt, and back to blogging.
As for my snack… well, one of them. I had a slice of watermelon.
As you can see, I like to eat my watermelon with a grapefruit spoon. It’s the only fun way to enjoy watermelon, you know. In the top left corner you can see my new toothpaste from wal-mart and O’s dramamine for her bus ride to and from summer church camp coming up here soon.
I can’t remember if ‘ve said this yet, but my birthday is on Sunday- it’s the big 18!!! OMG, can’t wait. I’m talking with the parents about going to a KC T-bones game. Don’t know if thats what we’ll do or not. For dinner: something REALLY ethnic.
**As for food, I’m thinking of starting a food diary type blog, kinda like Kath has… but mine wont be as good. I’m sure it will be interesting as I have a situation that not many other bloggers will have: *edited out* trying to lose weight while eating res. hall food. **

Have you ever had a super fun day? Well, I just had one. And even though I’m pooped, I’m still recapping the day for you- partially because I made the effort to take pictures for you. Lets begin.
The day started with a Royals game. Gotta love good deals $15 for a seat and a hot dog and a soda because it was family day. It would have been $13.50 had we found a 4th person- but none could be found
It was just Amber, Elizabeth, and me (far right) having a blast watching the Royals v. Mariners
It was a close game. And we got to see all the stats we could possibly want minus some on our new score board! It was mighty fancy. Hey, I even saw a familiar name up there: Ichiro Suzuki. You know that the Mariners used to be my team- or did you know that?? I am used to live in WA- 2 hours north of seattle and then 2.5 south of seattle a bit later. Only been in KC for 3.5 years. That’s why this guy was familiar.
During the 7th inning Sheridan’s Frozen Custard said that if the Royals got a run then you could come by their shop and get a free hot fudge sundae. And whatdoyaknow- they got a run! Free ice cream for TG!!
Yep, it’s all gone. I was too distracted after I got it, when we were walking out to our car, and the garage attendent walk 200 (!!!) feet to ask me how tall I am. Boy, times like that make me glad I’ve got 2 buddies nearby. He was a creeper. And on our way home, I’m pretty sure I saw a drug deal going down. Let’s just say the Kauffman Stadium/ Arrowhead Stadium (KC Chiefs) isn’t in a good part of town. So I was relieved when I got home. Plus I got to hang out with this fabulous girl. I’m going to miss her big time when I go to school
We went to the pool and swam/lounged about for 2.5 ish hours. It was super fun catching up on everything that going on- plus we planned our next 3 weekends or so. Now I’ve got to remember it all. You’ll definitely be hearing about it- since a lot of it revolves around my 18th birthday next sunday, a week from today
There’s so much more that I want to write but I need to keep mum until tomorrow so that I’ll have something to blog about.
**Last week was like crazy hormonal and I as I stated yesturday- I didn’t want to do anything. But I am back and kickin’. This week I will be going to some morning spinning classes (yay!) and swimming. I’ve got a nasty blister on my right heel the size of a nickel that’s trying to heal- so probably no running or lifting (??).This totally upsets my training for the race for the cure that I was wanting to do on Aug. 10th… bah gotta stop writing. Ciao**
