Today has been an eventful day. Very eventful.
Oh, I just saw an ad for Nick and Norah’s Endless Play List. DO NOT SEE THAT MOVIE. It’s a complete waste of time/money. Juvenile, lack of a well developed plot, etc. Oh and don’t waste your time/money on Charlie Bartlett.
Ok one more funny thing before I sign off and go to bed: My conversation class got moved to a different building today. We were all waiting outside for our prof. and another one of classmates comes through the doors. He looks like he’s seen a ghost. He said, “what are you all doing here” we explained that class was here today. apparently he was planning on skipping class today (since he’s in a different section I think is what he said…) I just thought it was funny how he ended up running into his class he was trying to avoid.
And for your viewing pleasure, here’s a cute little claymation vid about el Valle de la Luna:

Blah, blah, blah. Homework is going to be an issue this semester. I can see it now. No more naps. No more being social during the week. Etc.
For speech we had to come up with some possible speech topics under different categories. When I got to the “Hobbies/Trips/Leisure Activities” portion all I could come up with was watching movies, going to study table, and making cards (which I don’t even do while at college!) After talking with the roomie we decided that we have no life. “Student Athlete” pretty much describes my life.
Ok, funny story. In my speech class on the first day of class we did an activity to see what kind of people we had in our class, you know, conservative/ liberal, military, age, residence, etc. We came to the question of if you like sports or not. I ended up being the farthest to the “doesn’t like sports” side (even though I was standing just a bit past the middle of the room… Anyway, my TA then asks “Oh, since we’re on the subject, who are our student athletes in here?” Haha, ME! Show’s you what dedication I have to the sports realm…
Actually I love my sport. I just don’t care much for watching other sports. And since we’re talking about watching stuff… I think that you should watch the All American Rejects “Gives You Hell” music video. It’s pretty cute.

Pues… I feel like I cannot stop thinking in Spanish. In fact I feel so consumed by it I’ll probably end up sleep talking (in Spanish) like I did last night. I’m currently listening to my Mamma Mia! soundtrack trying to clear my mind a bit… but I have a feeling that it’s just going to get stuck in my head and I’ll end up sleep singing.
Even though it was just the first weekend of the semester I had quite a bit of homework so I kinda took it easy and didn’t do much. The highlight of my weekend was probably going to church yesturday. Also I worked on getting the whole roommates for next semester thing worked out.
My room smells like yogurt. Probably because I made some today. It’s in the fridge currently so that it will stop cooking. I’ll get to try it tomorrow… I hope it’s good. It looks like it should be.
Ok, it’s bedtime! Here’s something to inspire your inner Dance Queen:

Today was designated a cleaning and movie watching day. Or in other words, a day of rest before the semester gets its groove on. The ratties recieved the gift of fresh litter and we recieved the gift of a disinfected counter and clean(er) flood due to our labors. Although the cleaning (5 weeks of laundry…) will commence again tomorrow I feel like I have accomplished something… because that’s just about all I did today.
In addition to cleaning we watched Anastasia, The Swan Princess, Aladdin, and Bend it Like Beckham. I found some movies on youtube.com that are in Spanish for me to hopefully improve on that and help in my 2 (!!) Spanish classes.
I have a bunch of homework already. This semester shall be full of butterflies and flowers, I can see it now. For my Spanish Composition and Grammar (Comp) course my prof. told us to not become “un esclavo de su nota” or a slave of your grade. I have the same prof. for my Advanced Conversational Spanish (Convo/Conversation) and she said she won’t give us a calendar for the course because she doesn’t want to overwhelm us… all I can say to that is damn. Pardon my French… speaking of which… French 1. Hmmm, it’s going to be interesting. Picking up a third language. Yay, I can’t even understand my prof. half the time. At least I have a fun class. Speech. No joke, I’m kinda excited about it. Ok, watch my mope and groan about it later, but for now…
MMM! I love Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

It’s that time of year again: time to start classes. As I sit here blogging whilst reminiscing I’m thinking about how crazy my life will be during the next semester. I’ll have to do something to keep sane. Here’s what I’m thinking about:
- going to water aerobics one night a week
- making sure I keep up in all of my classes
- go to the library/ALC once a week
- keep our room door open more in the evenings
- blog more oftenererer
OMG wierdest thing just happened. Alert the media! As I was came to the page about the character Mr. Snoops from The Rescuers I started reading the “famous quotes” from that character as they were being said on the movie. CRAZY!
- go to the Bible study at church
- have a mug of tea in the evening with my studies
- try to watch one movie during the week just to be nostalgic
- keep the room clean
- stay of top of laundry
I think that’s about all I can come up with so far. Since the items on that list are mainly filed under “make more friends”, “get good grades”,and “make life simple” I shouldn’t have too much trouble.
And because I am so giving I will introduce you to a catchy little song so that you can get it stuck in your head too!

The Goofy Movie introduced me to many things in life
1. A fear of fish (1m30sec)
2. Singing whilst driving
Now it’s time to get on the road. Manhattan, here I come!

Tomorrow I will be going back to school. Have I noted that I’m changing my major? It’s now… or soon to be I guess… Secondary Ed. in Spanish and French. So my schedule for next semester will change a bit for next semester:
- French 1 (5 hours)
- Advanced Conversational Spanish (3)
- Spanish Composition and Grammar (3)
- Speech 1 (3)
- Intro to Ed. (0)
- Human Development (3)
That’s a total of 17 hours. I will also be picking up more hours at “work”.
I’m looking forward to going back. Really, I am. I’m ready to be constantly exhausted, have a regular schedule, have my pizza for dinner every night again, get involved in my church, able to run errands with no questions asked at 10pm, etc.
What I am really looking forward to right now is getting some sleep. It’s been a long break and I’m tired. Let me give you some highlights:
- I landed a job here
- I learned what hard labor meant… 9 hours on your feet sucks
- I worked approx. 100 hours over about 3.5 weeks
- I created about 500-700 postcards: I hand fed each individual sheet of paper into the printer, cut them into quarters, highlighted a line on them, hand-addressed them, ran them through the postage meter, and stamped our return address on each. It was fun.
- I read New Moon and Eclipse and got through about a quarter of Breaking Dawn.
- I also read about 100 pgs of each Me and Mr. Darcy and Citizen Girl
- I watched a couple of movies… and learned that you can totally watch Masterpiece Theater movies on PBS’s website. That’s pretty awesome if you ask me!
I have worked a total of 45 hours since last Saturday. That’s almost 3 times as much as I normally would when I’m home. But let me tell you, it hasn’t seemed like that much. Except for yesturday, when I worked a 9 hour shift, all on my feet because, you guessed it, I got a 2nd job. It’s retail.
What can I say? My feet hurt. If I wasn’t getting paid what I am I would cry myself to sleep everynight. Oh wait, that’s already begun.
Maybe I should just keep it at “I plan on keeping my office job” or “This is why I’m going to college because I don’t want to end up being Bon Qui Qui’s co-worker“:
Next week I’ll end up working about the same hours. It will be my last week of pergatory because hell will come with 2nd semester.

Is a -20* windchill necesary? I don’t think so! I was kinda hoping that I could escape the bitterly cold weather when I came back home: no more ice, snow, wind, frostbitten extremeties… Seriously this weather threw a wrench in my plans!
The cold weather kept me inside during the week of finals, except for the times when I went to my finals (2 times) and when I went to Hastings to rent 5 movies at a time… multiple times (I watched over 12 movies in the last week!)
The weather is still keeping me inside. I had high hopes of going running outside. You know, so that I could get that nasty burn in my lungs from the cold air and the mucus running down the back of my throat and keeping me from breathing so that I can’t run any more. I guess I’ll just have to run inside, at the gym.

Let’s just say that I totally forgot that I had a blog to tend to last week… I don’t know what to say. It’s not like I even really did anything last week. I kinda just hung out 24/7. I probably could do about the same this week.
This week is dead week. I cannot figure out if it’s dead because it will kill you with projects OR because the campus looks dead, i.e. there’s no life: everyone just wants to be done with the semester kind of thing and there’s nothing going on. If you know, please tell me.
For myself, this week and next week are dead, as in: just plain boring.
- Got a Chem Lab test tonight
- Christmas party tomorrow night
- Spanish improv drama craziness wednesday
- thursday nothing
- turn in my psychology research paper (easy!) on friday (or wednesday)
- Saturday/Sunday= study for my Chem final. Yuck.
- Monday 9pm-Thursday 7pm chillax
- Spanish final (easy!) thursday night
- Friday go home
So what am I going to do with my free time? That’s a good questi0n. I will probably:
- watch a crazy amount of movies
- spend quite a bit of time at the Rec/Nat/Erg room (I really want to improve my cardio fitness)
- read: Cover the Butter, The Shack, New Moon, Eclipse, and P.S. I Love You
- scour the room and bathroom like a madwoman
I think all of that will keep me busy. Espcially if I combine my reading with going to the Rec. What a good idea! I love to set the recumbent bike on the random setting and on a high level and just read. It goes by fast and you really work up a sweat. (I prefer climbs to sprints though, so it may be different for you)
